Thursday, 11th February: Applegreen, Ireland’s leading fuel retailer, has offered a year’s worth of free fuel to the parents of a baby girl who made an ‘unexpected’ arrival on the forecourt of the company’s outlet in Caragh, Co. Kildare, just over a week ago. Expectant parents John Feane and Naomi Galvin got the surprise of their lives last Tuesday night (3rd February) when, en route home from a check-up at the Coombe Hospital in Dublin, they realised that baby Ellie was in more of a rush than they had realised! The quick-thinking parents immediately parked on the forecourt of their local Applegreen in Caragh and called for an ambulance. To mark an eventful night, Applegreen has given John and Naomi an additional reason to celebrate with free fuel for a year – plus some birthday treats for baby Ellie. Applegreen, Ireland’s leading fuel retailer, has offered a year’s worth of free fuel to the parents of a baby girl who made an ‘unexpected’ arrival on the forecourt of the company’s outlet in Caragh, Co. Kildare, just over a week ago.

Expectant parents John Feane and Naomi Galvin got the surprise of their lives last Tuesday night (3rd February) when, en route to the Coombe Hospital in Dublin, they realised that baby Ellie was in more of a rush than they had realised! The quick-thinking parents immediately parked on the forecourt of their local Applegreen in Caragh and called for an ambulance.

Once the ambulance arrived, little Ellie was delivered safely and continued on her journey to the Coombe hospital. She is now back home with Mum and Dad, blissfully unaware of the excitement she caused.

Proud dad John Feane had nothing but praise for the emergency services, and for his wife Naomi. “The ambulance crew was just brilliant, they were so calm and reassuring throughout, and everything went incredibly smoothly,” he said. “They’re a credit to our frontline workers and we’ll always be grateful to them.

“It wasn’t the birth we were expecting but Naomi took everything in her stride, and we couldn’t be happier with our new baby girl,” John added. “We now have a great story to tell Ellie when she grows up and I don’t think we’ll ever drive past that Applegreen station without remembering that night.”

To mark an eventful night, Applegreen has given John and Naomi an additional reason to celebrate with free fuel for a year – plus some birthday treats for baby Ellie.

Trevor McBride, Applegreen Regional Manager, said: “This is the first time we’ve had an ‘Applegreen baby’ and we couldn’t be prouder! We’re thrilled for John and Naomi and thankful that everything went so smoothly, with the help of our magnificent ambulance service of course.

“To help the Feane family celebrate, we’re delighted to offer them a year’s worth of free fuel plus some extra treats and gifts for baby Ellie and her four proud siblings,” he added. “Hopefully, our gift will help John and Naomi to show off their new arrival to friends and family, when it’s safe to do so.”
